Imagine it being the day before your family session and a hurricane is about to hit with the weather showing as raining all day the only day you can take photos... that was this scenario. The boyfriend and I are sitting in the living room listening to the wind howl and the rain whip against the windows and I'm having a semi panic attack that I won't be able to photograph this beautiful family on their only day available. I know, it seems trivial but these are the things I deal with- so sue me, haha! The day after the storm it was the most gorgeous day ever, breezy, warm, sunny, perfect cotton candy clouds and nothing but smiles for the Miles Family!
Random Fact: Did you know that a ton of Ohio people vacation in Hilton Head? The reason for this dates back to the very beginning when Hilton Head was developed. Ohio was considered the perfect place to market to because it was a location that was landlocked but an easy drive to Hilton Head without having to load up on a plane. This family was from Ohio and it made me chuckle. Thank you Miles Family for letting me into your family that day!

I'm about to say something super clichè... I LOVE to travel! Seriously though, exploring and getting out of my comfort zone is key in growth both emotionally, professionally and spiritually. The boyfriend and I make it a point to go out of the country every year but a place we find very comforting is Hilton Head Island. His family has a house there, we are lucky enough to get the opportunity to go down there several times a year (he works from home as well). October was our lucky month because we hit the road for 2 weeks to frolic in the sands of Hilton Head and my heart couldn't have been more happy! I booked a couple of sessions at the beach while we were there and it was the highlight of my trip- call em crazy but I get really into my work and creating for my clients!
Brooke and Cory have been married for almost 4 years and haven't had professional photos taken since their wedding. They jumped on the opportunity to shoot on the beach with me and I jumped at the chance to bring some ideas to a head. There's a funny story about how this bride and groom came about using me to be their engagement and wedding photographer. Back in the summer I was on 11Alive for a short little story about people getting scammed (luckily I did not get scammed, just a warning story about a wedding industry scam going around). The sister of my client went to middle school with me and her mom saw me on tv and remembered who I was. Her daughter would be getting married next year and called me up to do their wedding photography; you just never know where you might meet someone or get a referral from! I am so happy that Chade and David chose me to document this special time in their lives!
Chade and David met online a few years ago and remained friends for quit some time before starting up a relationship and it has been fireworks ever since. The chemistry between these two lovebirds is undeniable as they were meant to be together. Oh Ansley. What can I say about this beautiful young woman, nothing bad that's for sure! This blonde bombshell is my cousin. I'm a little late on posting this senior session as I am finally forcing myself to catch up on my session blogging because she has already graduated from college, taken on 2 internships and accepted to her dream job! When Ansley first told me she wanted to work with dolphins with a psychology degree I was utterly confused, but I was being the naive one and did my research and realized just how ambitious she was. She landed an incredible internship down in the keys working with their dolphin program down there (ummm dream job!!) then came home and landed HER dream internship at the Atlanta Aquarium, the place she wanted to work from the start. I am seriously so proud of her and everything I know she is going to accomplish in her life- next stop... a mermaid dolphin session?? What do you think Ans...lol |
