Ashley and Stephen, what a day we had on Saturday! From creating a rain plan, a non-rain plan, changing plans last minute, it was all made perfect being surrounded by the love these two share. We started our day at the beautiful Georgian Terrace Hotel which offered the most gorgeous views of Atlanta, I could have seriously stayed up there all day long! I almost fell out of my chair (if I had been sitting) when I saw Ashleys stunning wedding dress in person, with its stunningly long train, big bow and classic silhouette you'll understand once you see it below. We got extremely lucky with just enough break in the rain for all of their portraits and bridal party portraits (we definitely had some angels looking over us this day). After leaving The Georgian Terrace Hotel we made our way to The Piedmont Room at Piedmont Park to get these two married! I know these two lovebirds were surrounded by all of their closest family and friends as they said I do and danced the night away to an amazing band! Also, shoutout to such a great coordinator, Courtney Guthrie, who came up with the best idea for their exit since it was raining, SNOW- check it out at the very end! Cheers you two, I can't wait to show off the rest! Photographer: Katie Coon Photography

I did something for me. Not for a client, but for me and it exceeded my expectations. Rather, Mother Nature exceeded my expectations. Everything you see here is real, nothing has been added - just wait till you see IT. Storms happen, especially at the beach - its inevitable. Usually when a storm is brewing its mother nature raining down on my parade. This time however, she graced us with a show that for a few split seconds made my heart sing. It was like a beautiful orchestra playing out in front of me with two beautiful souls singing the most enchanting (and downright steamy) love song.
This is Reid and Sophia, the owners of Happy Seed; a vegan Plant Based Caterer, bloggers, and food entrepreneurs. They are a power couple taking the vegan world in Atlanta by storm (see what I did there, HAHA). Check them out, you'll learn so much from these two and your mouth will not stop watering with all of their delicious food! Let me know what you think in the comments below, I love hearing from you guys! Imagine it being the day before your family session and a hurricane is about to hit with the weather showing as raining all day the only day you can take photos... that was this scenario. The boyfriend and I are sitting in the living room listening to the wind howl and the rain whip against the windows and I'm having a semi panic attack that I won't be able to photograph this beautiful family on their only day available. I know, it seems trivial but these are the things I deal with- so sue me, haha! The day after the storm it was the most gorgeous day ever, breezy, warm, sunny, perfect cotton candy clouds and nothing but smiles for the Miles Family!
Random Fact: Did you know that a ton of Ohio people vacation in Hilton Head? The reason for this dates back to the very beginning when Hilton Head was developed. Ohio was considered the perfect place to market to because it was a location that was landlocked but an easy drive to Hilton Head without having to load up on a plane. This family was from Ohio and it made me chuckle. Thank you Miles Family for letting me into your family that day! I'm about to say something super clichè... I LOVE to travel! Seriously though, exploring and getting out of my comfort zone is key in growth both emotionally, professionally and spiritually. The boyfriend and I make it a point to go out of the country every year but a place we find very comforting is Hilton Head Island. His family has a house there, we are lucky enough to get the opportunity to go down there several times a year (he works from home as well). October was our lucky month because we hit the road for 2 weeks to frolic in the sands of Hilton Head and my heart couldn't have been more happy! I booked a couple of sessions at the beach while we were there and it was the highlight of my trip- call em crazy but I get really into my work and creating for my clients!
Brooke and Cory have been married for almost 4 years and haven't had professional photos taken since their wedding. They jumped on the opportunity to shoot on the beach with me and I jumped at the chance to bring some ideas to a head. |
